streets ahead update - amey working with sheffield city council

We all want a #CleanSheffield, don't we?

Clean Sheffield

Almost two years on from the launch of Clean Sheffield and we are seeing a real increase in people wanting to support the campaign for a litter-free city.

From businesses to groups, lots of you are getting involved in litter-picking activities that are making a real difference to the communities we live and work in.

But… there’s still lots more that could be done.

Every year, the council spends more than £4 million clearing litter. With budgets continuing to be squeezed, it’s money that could be better spent on other services.

As part of the Clean Sheffield campaign, Streets Ahead Amey are continuing to work with local litter-picking groups and schools as well as recognising those going above and beyond to change behaviours when it comes to dropping and clearing litter.

In a bid to recognise those who have dedicated their time to helping clear litter, Amey be handing out a golden litter-picker to our most inspiring volunteers.

Working together with the Sheffield Litter Pickers group, who will nominate litter-pickers that have gone the extra mile, a special thank you will be given in the form of a sparkly gold litter picker!

Geraldine Houlton has already taken part in a number of litter picks in her local area and is keen to raise more awareness of litter-picking and encourage others to volunteer their time to help make a big difference to the areas where they live.
