An amber heat health alert came into force yesterday (Thursday 18 June) and remains in place until 8pm on Tuesday 23 June, with the hottest temperatures expected to reach the South West from Sunday.
A key concern is high overnight temperatures, which can stop the body cooling down. This added strain – alongside poor sleep – increases the risk of dehydration, heat exhaustion and pressure on the heart, especially for more vulnerable people and those in poorly ventilated homes.
Stay hydrated, keep cool, and check in on vulnerable friends, family and neighbours.
