On Tuesday 27 January, a major incident was declared in Somerset as our officers and multi‑agency partners responded to the impact of Storm Chandra and ongoing wet weather.
We’ve been working alongside the emergency services, health colleagues, the Environment Agency, local voluntary organisations and other key partners in response to flooding.
A major incident cell has been set up at Bridgwater Police Station and we've been on the ground in affected communities, carrying out welfare checks and supporting those affected by or at risk of flooding.
The major incident remains in place, with further rain expected and additional flooding of homes possible, particularly in the Moorland, Saltmoor and Currymoor areas of Somerset.
We’ve redeployed staff from their usual duties to support the incident response and have issued daily updates to keep residents and partners fully informed.
