A public consultation on proposals to introduce Sunday charges in Somerset Council car parks launched this week.
There are currently different charging principles applied across the county’s 200+ Council-run car parks, and the system has not been reviewed since Somerset Council came into being in 2023. The Sunday charging proposals are the start of a process aimed at harmonising charging practices across the county.
Nominations are now open for the Somerset Prepared Community Resilience Awards 2025, recognising people and groups who have taken that extra step to help their community be better able to deal with emergencies.
These awards recognise people or groups who have gone above and beyond to help their community be better able to deal with emergencies
Over 100 people gathered in Somerset on Saturday to take part in the fourth annual “Walk for a Life” event, held to mark World Suicide Prevention Day 2025.
The event brought together individuals, families, community groups, and professionals to remember loved ones lost to suicide, and to raise awareness of suicide prevention across the county. The walk served as a powerful reminder of the importance of connection, compassion, and community in tackling suicide and supporting mental wellbeing.
