Uprooted tree on the A367
Our highways crews worked round the clock to clear roads after 100's of trees and more than 20 power cables were downed during the county’s second storm event in 2 weeks.
Teams from our contractor, Kier, were out in winds of nearly 90mph during a rare Met Office Red Warning, combined with Amber and Yellow Warnings as Storm Darragh swept through the county from the early hours of Saturday into Sunday, 7 and 8 December.
Northgate Primary School pupils with Cllr Wilkins
A new cycling and walking route complete with eco-friendly lighting and forming part of an ever-growing network has been opened in Bridgwater.
Children from Northgate Primary School were on hand to celebrate the completion of the new route, a shared use cycle route from Linham road to the docks, extending the cycle network and linking with our previously completed route over Saltlands bridge and along the eastern side of the river to Express Park.
Bishops Lydeard Station
In partnership with West Somerset Railway, we've submitted a Strategic Outline Business Case (SOBC) to the Government to restore scheduled train services between Taunton and Bishops Lydeard.
In what would be a significant step towards boosting local transport choice and preserving heritage, the business case supports the long-term sustainability of the West Somerset Railway, one of Britain’s premier heritage railways.
