Together We Move, Together We Change

The Sandwell Council Domestic Abuse Team and NHS Black Country Integrated Care Board (ICB) hosted an event last week at The Hawthorns called ‘Together We Move, Together We Change’.

The aim was to spotlight and raise awareness of sexual assault and abuse and female genital mutilation (FGM). The event was attended by more than 130 professionals in the Black Country.

We heard some powerful stories of survivors of FGM and must all work together to continue to raise awareness and put a stop to this harmful and illegal practice.

Consultation for the Draft Sandwell Housing Strategy 2023 - 2028 Banner

Residents are being asked for their views on Sandwell Council’s Draft Housing Strategy. The consultation will run for a Six-week period from Wednesday 8 February until Wednesday 22 March 2023.

The document sets out the Council’s housing vision and ambitions for the Five-year period to the end of 2028.

This strategy shows how we intend to address the key housing challenges affecting our communities over the next five years. It sets out the Council’s priorities and objectives for meeting housing need and working with tenants and residents to build sustainable and cohesive communities across the borough.

Our draft strategy will help meet the needs identified in the Housing Needs Assessment, produced in 2022, which sets out the data and evidence of housing needs in Sandwell. But data and intelligence have to be coupled with the voice of our residents and we will be consulting widely on this draft before finalising the strategy for adoption in 2023.

CPR

Save lives today by learning CPR

There has been an increased spotlight on CPR in recent years, following the collapse at the 2021 European Championships of footballer Christian Eriksen, who received lifesaving CPR and defibrillator treatment. According to the British Heart Foundation, fewer than 1 in 10 people survive an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in the UK. Knowing how to carry out CPR during a cardiac arrest may save someone’s life.

All it will take is 15 minutes to learn this vital skill, go to our free online training.
