 We are pleased to announce that the Smethwick Pride in Place funding programme is now open!
The programme forms part of the government-funded Pride in Place initiative, designed to help communities improve local areas, strengthen connections and build lasting pride in place. Following the approval of Smethwick’s 10-year Regeneration Plan in April, this launch represents an important step in turning plans into action.
Funding available
Grants of £500 to £25,000 are available in Year 1 for projects that benefit Smethwick communities. All projects must be delivered within 12 months of receiving funding.
We are looking to support projects that align with one or more government investment theme and:
- Improve local environments
- Strengthen community connections
- Support young people and families
- Create opportunities for learning, skills and employment
- Promote health and wellbeing
- Improve community safety
- Enhance local infrastructure where it benefits residents
We strongly encourage partnership working and local spend to maximise benefits within Smethwick.
How to apply
The application process is two-stage:
- Expression of interest
- Full application
All applicants must speak with the Neighbourhood Development Officer before submitting an expression of interest. Guidance, support sessions and resources are available to help you develop your ideas.

Thank you for attending our engagement events
We would like to thank everyone who attended our recent engagement sessions and contributed to shaping the future of the Programme.
Across our events, we welcomed a strong turnout of local organisations, faith groups and businesses, all showing their commitment to supporting Smethwick’s future.
During these sessions, attendees had the opportunity to:
- Learn more about the Pride in Place and the 10-year Regeneration Plan
- Hear feedback from community engagement carried out in 2025
- Understand how the funding application process will work
- Ask questions and speak directly with members of the Board
- Build relationships and identify opportunities to work in partnership with other organisations and groups.

We will:
- Review all feedback gathered from the sessions
- Identify key themes and opportunities for action
- Explore how to encourage and support partnership working between organisations
- Consider how the programme can respond to identified support needs
This will help ensure that the funding programme not only invests in strong individual projects, but also builds connections, strengthens collaboration and maximises impact across Smethwick.
In the meantime, our work engaging with the wider community of Smethwick continues. You will be able to find us at events in Lightwoods Park, Victoria Park, and Sandwell Aquatic Centre amongst other locations this summer. Further details will be shared on our website.
