⚠️ Top tips to stay cool in the hot weather ☀️
❗A yellow heat-health alert has been issued from 12 noon on Monday (11 August) to 6pm on Wednesday (13 August) in the West Midlands.❗
🌡 This alert means that we can expect increasing temperatures and humidity. Keep an eye on anyone who is isolated, ill, vulnerable or very young and make sure they can keep cool too. 💦
Beat the heat – visit our website for tips and advice.
It may be tempting to cool down in hot weather, but cold water shock kills and has hidden dangers that can trap even the strongest swimmers.
Never swim in any form of open water, including lakes, pools, ponds, canals and rivers. Don't allow children to play near water without an adult present. Please read our water safety tips.

🎉 Bromwich Hall has been awarded a £200,000 heritage grant for essential repairs 🔨
This will help preserve the historic Grade I listed building – one of our fabulous Sandwell Museums sites which hosts a wide range of activities and events – for future generations.
The money will help us to complete urgent conservation and repair work on the building, including the roof, drainage, timber frame and panels. It paves the way for the hall to be removed from Historic England’s Heritage at Risk Register once the works are completed.
The timber-framed hall in Hall Green Road is one of only three Grade I listed sites in Sandwell, the others being Galton Bridge in Smethwick and Oak House in West Bromwich.
The main hall was built in around 1270, with the current grouping of buildings largely complete by the early 17th century. Following significant restoration work in the mid-20th century, the building was run as the Manor House public house and restaurant until 2009.

Businesses open as usual during Blackheath Interchange works
The next phase of traffic management is due to start on Tuesday 2 September, as part of the £2.9million regeneration project creating a new bus interchange around Market Place in Blackheath.
Businesses including Blackheath Market remain open as usual throughout the works.
Funded by the Government’s Towns Fund programme, the project will also see a new landscaped public space, which will replace the existing traffic island and create a safer pedestrian environment.
The current traffic management involves three-way temporary signals and means vehicles cannot access Birmingham Road from Oldbury Road, however, the Acorns car park and the on-street parking in Oldbury Road is still open as usual.
What's changing?
Starting on Tuesday 2 September, the next phase is due to last for three weeks and will include the existing three-way temporary signals, where vehicles cannot access Birmingham Road from Oldbury Road. In addition, there will be weekday, daytime (Monday-Friday 7am-5pm) closures on Halesowen Street.
Road users are asked to find alternate routes wherever possible and Blackheath town centre customers are encouraged to use public car parks which will remain open during the construction works.
👉 Read more in our news release about the latest works.
👉 Go to our Regenerating Sandwell website for more information on how the project will benefit Blackheath town centre.

Foster Sandwell – Help us to spread the word💙
Not everyone can foster – we get that. But even if you don’t have the room to invite someone into your family, you can still help.
Whether it’s a conversation with friends, colleagues or family to remind people to talk to us if they want to know about fostering – rather than assuming they can’t. Because often that’s not the case.
The more we can spread the word, and dispel the myths about fostering, the better the chances are that we can give Sandwell’s most vulnerable children a second chance.
💚 If you know someone who’s thinking about fostering, tell them to visit Foster Sandwell's website and ’like’ ‘share’ and ‘follow’ our Facebook page ‘Foster Sandwell’.
