Spud in the Bucket Competition

Collect your seen potatoes by Friday 22 March

Do you think you have what it takes to grow the heaviest potatoes? It's simple, collect your FREE seed potatoes from our Sandwell Valley Visitor Centre Shop and start growing. The earlier you begin, the more time your potatoes to grow to bulk up. The potato growing competition will end with the Big Weigh In on Saturday 14 September 2024. Bring your homegrown potatoes to be weighed and stand a chance to win some amazing prizes.

Sandwell Priory Heritage Walk

Don't miss a fascinating Walk with Dr Mike Hodder around Sandwell Priory! Dr Mike Hodder, former Borough Archaeologist and director of the excavation of Sandwell Priory in the 1980s, will take you on a fascinating journey around the remains of Sandwell Priory, the landscape around Sandwell Hall and other parts of Sandwell Valley’s past.

Easter Crafts 2024

Tuesday 2 - Sunday 7 April

Drop in any time between 10am and 2pm. Get crafty at Sandwell Valley Visitor Centre during half term week with a range of spring-filled and Easter-themed natural craft activities to take part in daily from making a nature boats and bird feeders to exploding mud paintings and hapa-zome. Different crafts available each day.

St George's Day Family Fun

Sunday 21 April 

Get ready to celebrate St George's Day with us at The Valley. We have an incredible lineup of traditional knights and majestic dragons. You can meet our friendly Sandwell Dragon, who is known for impressive smoke blowing. Challenge yourself with a Roman battle workshop, try on shiny armour, and lend a hand in creating a giant junk-model fortress. You can also learn to make roses and design your flag while while us.

FMFnew Life at Forge - Easter 2024

New Life at the Farm - Easter Holidays

Saturday 23 March - Sunday 7 April 

Join us this Easter half-term to celebrate the new life at Forge Mill Farm! The farm is home to adorable animals including lambs, kids (baby goats), calves, chicks, and our usual farm family. You may even have the opportunity to witness the beauty of a live birth!

This Easter, we have a lot of fun activities planned for you such as New Life Bingo, an Easter Egg Hunt in our indoor bale maze, and treat yourself to some hot drinks, ice cream or souvenirs to take home. If you get hungry, our pizza station is available for some delicious handmade wood-fired pizza!

Heritage Open Day AND Handmade Easter Fair

Join the Lightwoods Support Group for a Heritage Open Day on 24th March 11am - 3pm. Enjoy a guided tour of Lightwoods House and learn about the rich and varied history of the House and Park. Free Admission and whilst you're here we will also be hosting our Easter Handmade Fair in the Marquee!
