Unite for White Ribbon Day 2022 - Pledge your support and find out more information

As many people tune in to watch the World Cup, there has never been a better time for us to come together and start playing as a team to end violence against women and girls.

Today (25 November) is White Ribbon Day - a global campaign led by men to end male violence against women and girls.

Whether you’re a football fan or not, we want as many men as possible to make the White Ribbon Promise to never commit, excuse or remain silent about male violence against women – that’s The Goal.

Pledge your commitment to White Ribbon Promise and find information on support for anyone affected by domestic abuse.

Domestic Abuse Pledge

New Domestic Abuse Pledge signed

We've signed a new Domestic Abuse Pledge to build on our existing work with partner organisations to ensure all forms of abuse will not be tolerated in Sandwell.

Council Leader Councillor Kerrie Carmichael, Cabinet Member for Communities Councillor Danny Millard and Director of Borough Economy Alice Davey signed the pledge this week to coincide with White Ribbon Day and the start of 16 Days of Action (against gender-based violence).

Look out on our social media channels (#16Days #Safer6) over the coming days for a wide range of advice and information on services and support available for anyone affected by domestic abuse.

Mayor of Sandwell Councillor Richard Jones also showed his support for White Ribbon Day. He said: “On White Ribbon Day, and every day, we stand united to work towards ending violence against women and girls.”

Harvest view health and social care centre is open!

We've opened Harvest View

This is our new flagship social care and health facility in Rowley Regis. It’s the first facility of its kind in the West Midlands.

Harvest View offers specialist support from both social care and health staff all under one roof, with 80 en-suite rooms and friendly communal areas as well as lovely outdoor spaces.

The facility will help people get back home after a hospital visit and also those who need some structured support to avoid a hospital stay altogether. The focus is on maintaining and improving independent living.

Sandwell Council’s Councillor Suzanne Hartwell and Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust’s Sarah Oley cut the ribbon to open the facility. Read more about the opening of Harvest View.

Consultation on changes to parliamentary constituencies

The Boundary Commission for England (BCE) is redrawing constituency boundaries to rebalance the number of electors represented by each MP. Find out how this affects constituencies in Sandwell.

A final consultation on proposed new constituencies is now open. A new revised map of constituency proposals, which takes into account feedback sent in by the public on the initial proposals, has been published on the consultation website.

Send in your views before the closing date of Monday 5 December to have your say on new parliamentary constituency boundaries.
