Christmas Bin Dates

There are no changes to bin collection days over Christmas and New Year. Please put your grey general waste and blue-lid recycling bins out on the usual day.

If for any reason there are delays to collections in your street, please leave your bins out and our crews will be with you as soon as possible. Find out more about bins and recycling by visiting our website.

Real Christmas Trees can be recycled at Oldbury Tip and slots can be booked via our website.

Wrapping paper can go in your blue lidded bin if it passes the scrunch test. That is if you scrunch it up and it stays in a ball, you can recycle it. Please put foil or glitter-decorated paper in your grey bin.

Garden waste winter break

A reminder that our garden waste will be taking a winter break from Monday 13 December 2021.

Garden waste collections will restart from 28 February 2022 over a two week period. To find out your garden waste collection restart date for 2022 check the bin day finder after the middle of February 2022.

During this time garden waste can be recycled at Oldbury Tip, Shidas Lane, Oldbury. You can book a visit to the Tip via our website

Donate your unwanted furniture to someone who needs it

Sandwell Council and its waste partner Serco are asking residents to consider donating household furniture and electrical items when clearing out their homes.

Community Transport Furniture is a charity which sells furniture, electricals and other household items that are still in a useable and working condition to help pay for their transportation charity work.

Donate items by:

Arranging a free collection by Community Transport Furniture from your home online via email or by phone on 0121 520 8168.

Dropping off unwanted items to the Community Transport Furniture store in Kings Square, West Bromwich, B70 7NW.

Dropping off unwanted items to the Community Transport Furniture van located at the Sandwell Council Household Recycling Centre (Tip), Shidas Lane, Oldbury: Book your slot at the Tip

Donations welcomed include:

Sofas and suites
Tables and chairs
Beds and bedroom furniture
Washing machines, dryers, cookers and small electricals - All in working order
Other household items
Desks, office chairs and furniture such as, bookcases, shelving, filing cabinets

Donated items will need to comply with legal requirements, which includes any upholstered furniture having fire safety labels attached Fire Safety Labels and are in a reasonable, reusable condition.
