World AIDS Day, remembering those lost and promoting health This year marks 40 years since the first diagnosed cases of HIV in the UK. Living with HIV in 2021 is a world away from the 1980s. We all must continue to tackle HIV stigma and discrimination and keep ourselves safe by using protection and doing regular testing. The Deputy Mayor of Sandwell, Councillor Richard Jones, to mark World AIDS Day had his head shaved to show solidarity with people living with HIV, and raise funds for charities.

You have until Thursday 9 December to check your eligibility and apply for the household grant The council has been granted £3.4million to provide financial support to vulnerable households to meet daily needs such as food, clothing and utilities. The funding will also be used to provide free school meals for children during the October half term, Christmas holiday, February half term and Easter holidays for the school year 2021/22. Check your eligibility for the grant and apply online now, you have until Thursday 9 December.
