Covid-19 warning for Smethwick

We are urging residents in Smethwick to take action to stop the spread of Covid-19.

In the past seven days of available data, 34 positive cases have been confirmed in Smethwick.

Multiple cases within households and extended family gatherings are one of the main ways the virus is spreading in the town. There have also been outbreaks associated with businesses, including pubs.

If you have symptoms (new, persistent cough, a fever or a loss or change in your sense of smell or taste) you must isolate at home and book a free coronavirus test immediately.

Keep people safe, stay home

If you have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for coronavirus then you need to self-isolate at home for 14 days.

But what happens if you go and get a test and it’s negative?
Can you end your self-isolation and return to work?
Unfortunately not.

The guidance is clear. Contacts of confirmed cases must self-isolate for 14 days regardless of any test result due to the possible incubation period.
