Food waste

A third of what we throw away at home is food waste and you can save as much as £70 per month by reducing the amount of food you put in your bin.

Pledge to only buy what you need, store your food properly and eat everything you buy and cook

While the brown bin service is suspended, placed unavoidable food waste into your household rubbish bin or put items like fruit and veg peel into a home composter.

Private waste removal

We hate to see dumped rubbish and we know you do as well.

Whilst bulky collections are on hold and the tip is closed, you may think of arranging private waste removal. Before you pay anyone to take rubbish away you must first check they have a licence.

Advice on finding licensed/registered waste carriers and reporting fly-tipping.

Covid-19 and advice for disposing of personal waste

If you suspect you have Covid-19 please put used tissues and other disposable cloths in a separate bin bag to other waste.

This should be double bagged and kept aside for 72 hours before putting in your household (grey) rubbish bin as normal.

Please ensure all rubbish is inside the bin and the bin lid is closed when you put it out for collection. Other household waste and recycling can be disposed of as normal.
