Residents welcome reduced energy bills during cold winter months
Eleven homes on a single street in the borough of Great Yarmouth have undergone sustainable retrofits under the Home Upgrade Grant Phase 2. The results have raised the energy performance of the homes from an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating F to far-more-efficient B's and C's.
Measures installed at the homes on Fallowfield included air source heat pumps, solar panels and loft insulation.
Residents are praising the scheme after noticing an immediate difference to their energy bills. One resident expressed their delight at the funding saying: “I can’t believe that we got all these items installed for free. We used to have standard electric heaters before and we can already see a reduction in our energy costs.”

Award-winning project celebrates shift to low emission heating for social housing
A scheme led by Together Housing Group has been recognised as ‘heat pump project of the year’ at the Heating and Ventilation (H&V) News Awards 2024.
The housing association, which owns and manages some 36,000 homes in the north of England, is proud to say the award showcases it’s doing the right thing for its residents.
To support the work, Together Housing Group was awarded £9.5 million through the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund Wave 2.1.

Don't leave lodgement until the last minute!
We asked grant recipients for one key takeaway from delivering through previous schemes and (you guessed it) Trustmark lodgement came up!
Lodging too late can create unnecessary bottlenecks and jeopardise scheme completion. It's important to remember that verification also takes time, it requires cross-checking with data and delays in lodging completed works can cascade into issues throughout the process.
Tips for effective lodgements include:
- plan ahead: incorporate lodging into your delivery schedule and spread it evenly across your timeline
- mitigate risks: early lodgements allow time to identify and fix errors without jeopardising deadlines
- maximise efficiency: a steady flow of lodgements ensures smoother operations for all stakeholders
-
communicate clearly with your residents: after measures are installed, some residents may assume that works are fully complete and decline post-work assessments, creating challenges with lodgements and finalising EPC ratings. Clear and proactive communication about the necessity of follow-up assessments can help prevent these issues.
