There's still time to register to vote in the May elections
Local elections are taking place in the district on Thursday 7 May.
Register to vote now if you’ve never registered before, have moved house, or changed your name.
All you need to register to vote is your National Insurance number and it only takes a few minutes.
The deadline to register to vote in the 7 May local elections in England is Monday 20 April.

If you won't be able to get to your Polling Station on Thursday 7 May, don't worry - there are other options:
Postal Vote
You can apply for a postal vote – but you must apply before 5pm on Tuesday 21 April to vote in this year’s local elections.

Proxy Vote
If you know that you won’t be able to get to the polling station on polling day, you can ask someone you trust to cast your vote on your behalf. This is called a proxy vote and the person casting your vote is often referred to as your proxy. The deadline to apply for a proxy vote for this May's elections is 5pm on Tuesday 28 April.

Who are the candidates in the May elections?
Elections are taking place on Thursday 7 May for Rochford District Council; Essex County Council; Rawreth and Rochford Parish Councils.
In addition, a by-election will also take place for the Wheatley Ward in Rayleigh Town Council.
