Coronavirus: Latest Statement

The latest statement from Rochford District Council, in relation to COVID-19, is now available, including the following update:

Business grants
The Council has distributed 538 Local Restrictions Support Grants under the Closed scheme totalling £709,000 for the period 17 October to 2 December 2020.

Funding has now been received from Government to cover the period 2 December to 19 December 2020. The Business Rates Team are working hard to get grants for this period paid to businesses. We anticipate businesses will receive their grants by the end of this week. If you have already applied for a grant you do not need to make a further application for this period or future periods as these will be paid automatically. If you think you are entitled to a grant but have not yet applied please complete the application form using link below:

The Government has also announced a one-off grant to businesses in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors that have been legally required to close, and which cannot operate effectively remotely. The value of the grant will be based on the rateable value of the business:

• £4,000 for businesses with a rateable value of £15,000 or under
• £6,000 for businesses with a rateable value between £15,000 and £51,000
• £9,000 for businesses with a rateable value of over £51,000

Further funding will also be provided to top up the current Additional Restrictions Grant Scheme.

Essex Police Business Crime Q&A Event

Join Essex Police at an online event to ask questions about Business Crime Policing in Essex and discuss the issues faced by your business on Tuesday 19th January 2021 10:00-11:00.

The Essex Police Business Crime Unit was setup earlier in 2020 to act as a one-stop shop for the Business community to have a voice into local Policing. Throughout this period they have worked hard to support businesses through the closure and recovery phases of the pandemic. They are aware of the significant challenges facing businesses at the moment and are pleased to be offering their first online Q&A event. This informal event is an opportunity for businesses to ask questions around policing, how crime affects your business and what Essex Police can do to support you. "We welcome all Essex Businesses to this event and are particularly keen to hear from smaller businesses".

If you have any questions you wish to ask in advance of the session please kindly email: Business.crime.unit@essex.police.uk
