Increased number of police officers for Rochford District

Towns across Castle Point and Rochford will see an increased number of officers dedicated to policing town centres. 

A total of six new officers will allow the creation of an extra shift to run additionally to the district’s pre-existing Community Policing Team, meaning that the officers will be more visible and more widely available to investigate community issues within their designated town centres.

Two officers will be assigned to Canvey Island, Rayleigh and Rochford respectively.

Rare butterfly flourishes in Hockley Woods


Heath Fritillary Butterfly

Populations of the rare Heath Fritillary butterfly are thriving in Hockley Woods, following a careful management plan by Rochford District Council.

A concentrated effort has been made to conserve this species, which is rarely seen in the UK, within the stunning 130 hectare ancient woodlands set in rural south Essex.
