New Forge Island footbridge lifted into place

We reached a milestone moment last week as the new pedestrian bridge was lifted into place on Forge Island.

Weighing 86 tonnes and measuring 46 metres in length, the bridge was carefully moved to its new permanent home last week by a specialist crane.

Based on the Bailey Bridge design, the bridge will link the flagship Forge Island development – including the brand new cinema, hotel and restaurants – to the heart of the town centre.
