School children 'name the cranes' as work forges ahead

Introducing ‘Rotherham Rainbow’ and ‘Steely Crane'!

Congratulations to local school children Redwanella, aged 7 and Selda, aged 9 (pictured), who won a competition to name the two eye-catching cranes at Forge Island, designing colourful pictures of their crane characters.

The competition winners were invited down to the construction site last week for a hard hat tour with the project team and to see their winning names attached to the 37-metre and 25-metre-high cranes.

The cranes will support the construction of the new Arc cinema, Travelodge hotel and six restaurants over the next few months, creating a family-friendly destination in the heart of the town centre.
