Ward Councillors Adam and Charlotte Carter provided funding to purchase 6 fruit trees to commemorate the King's Coronation.
Brinsworth Parish Council were happy to provide the perfect location for the trees, which are now planted in Millennium Park where a plaque will be fitted to mark the occasion.
To help celebrate, Brinsworth Ward councillors invited Brinsworth Howarth Primary School to accompany them in the park to make bunting.
They were joined by 28 children and staff from the school along with staff from the Council's Woodlands and Neighbourhoods teams.
The bunting was in the shape of leaves and the children were asked to write their messages and memories about the Coronation on the leaves. The leaves were decorated with red, white and blue colours.
This work supports the cleaner and greener Brinsworth Ward priority.
The Centre on Brinsworth Lane are delighted to show off the Coronation bunting made by pupils from Brinsworth Howarth Primary School.
As part of the Coronation Orchard funded by Brinsworth Ward Councillors Adam and Charlotte Carter, the children decorated leaf shapes with messages to the King.
The shapes included bright jewels and shimmering crowns.
The bunting now takes pride of place in the reception area and will be there until the end of June for people to come along and enjoy.
Brinsworth Manor Infants and Brinsworth Manor Junior School have jumped on board the Coronation orchard trail by planting 6 fruit trees on the edge of the school field for passers by to admire.
The school joined the trail, starting in Millennium Park and invited Woodland officers and Councillor Adam Carter to help them with the planting.
The schools are keen to develop their outdoor spaces and have almost completed their wildlife pond with funding from the ward budget and the help of probation services.
Their next project is to start a community garden and allotment project. They are looking for volunteers to help. If you are interested call in at the schools and leave your details, or email Mandy Ardron to find out more.
South Yorkshire Police will be hosting community drop-in sessions at the Centre on Brinsworth Lane from 10am to 11am on the following dates:
- Thursday 1 June
- Thursday 8 June
Anyone can call in and have a cuppa and a chat with one of the Police officers or PCSO’s.
You can also just come along and find out what is happening in the Centre and your neighbourhood.
Adopt with One Adoption South Yorkshire and help make it a reality for local children.
We're encouraging Rotherham residents to adopt with their local council and help make a child's dream a reality.
Launched in 2021, One Adoption South Yorkshire brought together adoption services from Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield councils.
The agency is responsible for recruiting and assessing new adopters, finding families for children with a plan for adoption across the region and providing comprehensive ongoing support to families from a child's placement into adulthood.
Could you be the one to change a life?
Stephanie Evans, Head of One Adoption South Yorkshire, said:
"Adoption is incredibly challenging, but it is equally rewarding and fulfilling.
"We welcome and encourage applications to adopt from people of all backgrounds. Your ethnicity, sexuality and religion are not a barrier to adoption.
"We aren't looking for the perfect parents, but we are looking for people who are resilient and flexible and can commit to providing a child who may have faced a challenging start in life with a safe, permanent and loving home."
