Two special concerts have taken place in Hellaby and Maltby, thanks to funding from Ward Councillors.
Maltby East Ward Councillors and Hellaby and Maltby West Ward Councillors have funded two Christmas Concerts with pie and peas for older residents within their Wards, many of whom have attended our Lost Chord UK singalong sessions.
Combatting loneliness and isolation is a Ward priority for your Councillors.
Maltby East
Maltby East Ward Councillors held their event on 2 December at the Wesley Centre, with Lost Chord UK singing festive carols and songs.
It was all hands on deck and the steaming pie and peas were served up by Ward Councillors, the Council's Neighbourhoods Team and Adult Social Care Community Connector, who together have supported the Lost Chord singalong sessions this year.
It was fantastic to see people chatting, laughing and dancing the night way. We really went back to youthful times with Christmas party favourites such as 'pass the parcel' and dancing tunes including the 'Hokey Cokey'.
Hellaby and Maltby West
The concert for Hellaby and Maltby West Ward was held on 16 December at St Bartholomew's Community Rooms and Church.
It was a cold day, but the tea and coffee kept flowing to warm us all up.
Pie and peas were made by Dinnington Resource Centre's Catering Team. Food was served to residents by Ward Councillors and partner organisations.
Some of the people supporting and making these events happen are pictured below, Lost Chord CEO, Clare Langan (far Left) and from far right to left, Anne Marie Wilcock (Hellaby Lost Chord Singalong Coordinator), Claire Moseley (Hellaby and Maltby Neighbourhood Coordinator) and Sally Glennon (Maltby East, Salvation Army Lost Chord Coordinator).
We also had several special guests, including the Mayor of Rotherham, MP Alexander Stafford (2nd from left), Father Christmas (also known as Councillor Ball) and Councillor Tinsley (3rd from left).
After a wonderful meal and lots of chatting with new friends, we moved into the main Church to sing Christmas carols and hear special Noel time readings.
St Bartholomew's was a beautiful setting for a memorable community singalong. A fitting way to end our first year of Lost Chord UK projects in the Maltby and Hellaby Wards.
Blow and slurp the Monday blues away with Soup and Lost Chord UK singalongs at Hellaby Parish Hall and Salvation Army, with our new sponsors Voluntary Action Rotherham.
Sing your heart out to some amazing tunes to bring back memories, make new friends and have a great time.
Everyone is welcome to join these free, dementia friendly sessions.
All sessions start at 12.15pm with soup and a chat, with singing from 1pm to 2pm.

We officially launched our Picturing Maltby project this month, which aims to collect residents' memories of Maltby and to build a website sharing people's photos and stories.
We were based in the Vintage Tea Booth, who kindly let us take over their wonderful 'blast to the past' Tearooms for our special Christmas event.
Ward Councillors, Town Councillors and the Council's Neighbourhood Coordinator are working in partnership with Alison Ward from Flux Rotherham to deliver this project.
In Maltby, we know that old buildings and our coal mining past is an important part of our shared local history.
However, we really want to know about traditional celebrations, local dialect and special family or friendship gatherings that brought people together.
We know a lot of happy memories were made playing sports in the numerous indoor and outdoor venues, dancing in the Silver Dollar and enjoying family time at the Crags. If you have any photos and stories, we want to see and hear about them.
Our next public event will be advertised soon, we will have a 'Love Maltby' special to celebrate Valentines Day.
We will be visiting community groups in the new year. If you would like to get involved, please contact your Neighbourhood Coordinator, Claire Moseley.
Call out for St Bartholomew's married couples
Picturing Maltby are looking for special couples who got married at St Bartholomew's, lucky to still be in love and have an old black and white photo of themselves in their wedding finery under the Arch. We Want You.
We would love to recreate the photo, with a professional photographer and would welcome your children and grandchildren along for a special photo and memory.
If you are interested, please contact your Neighbourhood Coordinator, Claire Moseley.
You can contact Claire on email at claire.moseley@rotherham.gov.uk.
Naughty or nice?
At the Picturing Maltby Christmas event, we had some naughty Elves visit us. Along with causing merriment along the High Street, they joined Santa and Councillor Tinsley in the Vintage Tea Booth.
To counteract the naughty, we had the extremely nice Lost Chord UK. Customers and those supporting our Picturing Maltby project were treated to an hour of festive carols and beautiful flute and piano melodies.
Moths at Work, another exciting event with Flux Rotherham is coming to Maltby on 7 February.
This family event will start on Beresford Road at 4pm, with a performing arts company travelling the streets around the area of China Town. Streets include Wood View, Farquhar, Nelson Road and Staffordshire Close.
The performance will end at the green space off Farquhar, where we will serve hot refreshments.
If you are lucky enough to live on one of the streets, you can watch the show when they go past from the comfort of your own home. Or, you can come out and meet us on Farquhar.
Visit the Moths at Work website to see what they get up to.
We will share more information in our January newsletter.
Maltby East Ward Councillors and Hellaby and Maltby West Ward Councillors joined forces again, providing funding to the Early Help Team for a Christmas event.
This ensured local children could visit Santa for free, collect a gift and see his reindeers.
Many organisations and individuals have been busy raising money and giving toys to those who need a little extra support this Christmas time.
Maltby East Ward and Hellaby and Maltby West Ward Councillors have used some of their Community Leadership Fund to support the Town Council Appeal purchase goods for their Christmas hampers.
The Salvation Army have again also been collecting toys and providing Christmas hampers.
Captain Lucy Mann of Maltby Salvation Army, said:
"Thank you to everyone who has donated and volunteered in our toy appeal for 2022!
"People have been so generous. Amidst all the challenges of life, never forget that there is so much goodness.
"As these packages are distributed now let’s all share joy and hope with one another this Christmas."
Two senior citizen Christmas lunch events were organised by Maltby Town Council at the Edward Dunn Memorial Hall, earlier this month.
Maltby Town Council would like to thank all Councillors, volunteers, staff and Maltby Academy for helping out.
A special mention to Maltby Craggs School for providing a Choir and to the Fun Hub for their generous donations providing hampers.

Ward Councillors arranged a Maltby walkabout with Crime Commissioner, Alan Billings to discuss issues including anti-social behaviour in Maltby.
Along with a High Street tour, we also visited areas such as the Model Village and Coronation Park.
Follow up visits around designing out crime, extra police patrols and the provision of CCTV were discussed and implemented. The Crime Commissioner also put forward a project with the Community Pay Back Team to tidy up the area.
Improving the High Street environment is a top Ward priority for Maltby East Ward Councillors.
StreetSafe is a service for anyone to anonymously tell the Police about public places where you have felt or feel unsafe.
This could be because of environmental issues, such as street lighting, abandoned buildings or vandalism. This could also be because of some behaviours you experience, such as being followed or verbally abused.
Please note: 'StreetSafe' is not for reporting crime or incidents
You can find out more by visiting the StreetSafe webpage.
A message from South Yorkshire Police on how you can make your home a harder target for thieves.
Homes with no security measures in place are five times more likely to be burgled than those with simple security measures. Good window locks and strong deadlocks can make a big difference.
Taking just a few steps can make a big difference in keeping your home safe from burglary.
Visit the South Yorkshire Police website for some top tips to help secure your home.
For more advice, you can also download our crime prevention booklet.
We’ve recently been working on a project to encourage residents to recycle more and better in your area and we need your input.
Residents in Hellaby and Maltby can complete a short survey and be in with a chance of winning £50.
