Yorkshire Sport Foundation, Development Support Officer, Chris Ng, offered advice on how to keep fit, no matter your age or ability.
Chris supports local community group members and residents to gain the skills to run activities that increase physical activity. Recently, the Bevan Court Community Group received funding and coaching.
In the group's meeting space, they now run indoor Curling and Boccia. This is a great way for older residents to keep active, whilst the weather is grim outside.

Hellaby and Maltby West Councillors, Cllr Andrews and Cllr Ball used some of their Community Leadership Funding to provide a community skip to help residents dispose of their household waste.
The skip was well used and appreciated by residents.

By using accredited skip companies and local Household Recycling Centres, you are helping the environment and ensuring that unwanted goods are recycled or disposed of correctly.
Your local Household Recycling Centre is located at Bramley, Lidget Lane, S65 4LY.
Both Maltby East Ward and Hellaby and Maltby West Ward Councillors wanted to support people affected by Covid-19 lockdowns.
The wellbeing of residents is a key priority for Councillors in both the Maltby East Ward, as well as the Hellaby and Maltby West Ward.
After seeking advice from doctors and healthcare professionals, Ward Councillors funded a 12-week programme of support.
The programme was designed to help residents at risk of falls and injury, due to weakened muscles after the Covid-19 lockdowns. Doctors and healthcare professionals referred local patients onto the course.
This month saw the end of the programme and Neighbourhood Coordinator, Claire Moseley, visited the group to see what they thought. Comments included:
"The coaches are amazing, they put us all at ease and I really do feel the benefit, I do some of the exercises at home"
"I would definitely do this again and would like it to continue"
"After my daughter died I stayed at home, this has got me out, chatting with people and moving, thank you"
Participants received an hour of exercise per week, which was tailored to their individual needs and development. Participants also received a resistance band to continue the exercises at home.
Along with the fitness and strengthening classes, time was made available at the end of each session for personal wellbeing. It was a chance to have a chat with other members of the group, ask the coaches questions and relax with a cuppa.
On the last week, everyone was treated to a bag full of homegrown garden plums.
Sometimes, nothing lifts your mood more than a good singalong to your favourite tune.
Maltby and Hellaby Ward Councillors have joined forces with local charity, Lost Chord to steal away their musicians and share the joy of singing with everyone.
At last month's concert, we had the special treat of listening to the amazing Lost Chord UK musician and all-round star Luke Carver Goss. Luke certainly lifted people's spirits and got everyone smiling, singing and moving. His interactive session amazed us with instruments, including the accordion and didgeridoo.
It was definitely something you don't see or hear in Maltby every day!
There is still a chance to join Ward Councillors at the free November Concert and there are two more months of singalongs at either Hellaby Centenary Parish Hall or Maltby Salvation Army, please see the details below.
