At the end of September, Council tenants in Thrybergh were invited to get rid of their rubbish and unwanted items via a community skip.
Organised by the Council's Housing Team, the skip was located on the Parish Hall car park, with kind permission of Thrybergh Parish Council.
Housing Officers were joined by Ward Councillors, the Neighbourhoods Team and Caretakers to help tenants and ensure the day ran smoothly.
Community skips are a great way of enabling tenants to get rid of unwanted items and help those who may not be able to easily access public waste sites.
Feedback from those who brought items was extremely positive and the skip was quickly filled.
Community skips also support the Dalton and Thrybergh Ward priority around ensuring our neighbourhoods are safe, clean, tidy and celebrated.
If you would like to know more about community skips, please get in touch with your Area Housing Officer.
After months of planning, Ward Councillors in Dalton and Thrybergh are delighted to announce that work has begun on two new projects in East Herringthorpe.
The first project is the much-anticipated community garden and improvements to the area outside of Ridgeway Stores.
The second project involves refurbishing and upgrading the children’s play area and multi-use games area on Laudsdale Road.
One of the ward priorities for Ward Councillors in Dalton and Thrybergh is to improve facilities and opportunities for people living in the ward, which includes the improvement of physical assets and equipment. Through community consultation, we identified the locations as areas in need of improvement; recognising the importance of providing safe and enjoyable spaces for residents to enjoy.

Works will continue over the coming weeks and care will be taken to minimise disruption for local residents.
Tackling speeding and raising awareness of the dangers of speeding is a key priority for your Ward Councillors.
One initiative helping to address the issue is Community Speed Watch. This is a community-based scheme that enables the Police, Council, and community to work together to educate drivers and control speeding.
Over the past few months, South Yorkshire Police have conducted several community speed watches in locations where speeding has been identified as an issue.
This month, officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team invited Ward Councillors, staff, and residents in East Herringthorpe and Dalton to take part.
Participants were able to have a go using the radar device, which records the speed of vehicles, allowing them to see how many drivers were exceeding the speed limit. Any driver found to be speeding will receive a letter from the Police, highlighting the commitment to reducing speed in the ward.
