Your Ward Councillors have developed a number of ward priorities. These are as follows:
- Priority 1: Improving the physical environment
- Priority 2: Facilities and activities for children and young people
- Priority 3: Explore opportunities to improve the health and wellbeing of local residents
- Priority 4: Tackling crime and anti-social behaviour
View the ward priorities at: Rawmarsh East ward – Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council
We will be sharing more information about the work that is going on to tackle these ward priorities in future newsletters.
So, what is plogging and how can you get involved?
All you need to do in order to be a successful plogger is simply stop and pick up any litter you see along your running (or walking) route.
Plogging isn't just a means of cleaning up our communities, it is also a great way to meet people and get active.
Plogging will have a positive impact on both mental and physical health and is shown to burn more calories than just running and walking.
For further details around any events and activities, please follow Rawmarsh Runners on Facebook or Instagram.
Friends of Rawmarsh and Parkgate Green Spaces have been busy recently tidying up St. Mary's Churchyard and volunteering at Rawmarsh Community Allotment.
The Friends Group were joined by members of the Allotment Society and Rawmarsh Runners. Through working together, it was possible to create a raised vegetable bed.
Friends of Rawmarsh and Parkgate Green Spaces will be carrying out the following litter picks over the next few weeks:
- 21st October: Meet at the corner of Willowgarth/Claypit Lane
- 28th October: Meet at Asda, Aldwarke Lane
- 4th November: Meet at Rosehill Park to litter pick Warren Vale
The litter picks will start from 10am.
All equipment will be provided. For further information, visit the Facebook page for Rawmarsh & Parkgate Friends of Greenspaces.
It’s important that children learn to talk and listen, so they can communicate, make friends, have fun and learn about the world. Helping children to learn these skills can be as easy as talking, listening and playing with them whenever and wherever you can, but sometimes it can be hard to know where to start.
Tiny Talkers Rotherham supports local parents, carers and professionals to boost children’s vital speech, language and communications skills by providing lots of ideas and activities such as -
- Singing along with your child to everyday activities - “Wash, wash, wash your hands….”
- Talking about what you’ve found on a mini adventure – ask them to describe the leaves on the floor, or the sounds they can hear.
- Playing memory games and taking turns to remember things - “what did we buy from the shop today”?
Not sure where to start?
Search the Tiny Talkers website for more simple tips and activities, or to find out what’s available where you live.
