Waverley Junior Academy have been busy fundraising to provide several pods and shelters that will keep their pupils' bikes and scooters safe and dry during school time.
The school wanted to provide the facilities to encourage children to think of alternative ways of traveling to school.
Rother Vale Ward Councillors Amy Brookes and Firas Miro loved the idea and have provided match funding to enable the Academy to finish off their project.
Jaimie Milner, Active travel Coordinator, said:
"We want to encourage children and families to walk, cycle or scooter to school in the hope that this will reduce the number of cars on the road particularly outside school. Not only will this help to reduce the carbon emissions, but it will make the roads around the school less congested and safer for families to cross."
The shelters are due to be in place in the next few months, and the Councillors will be joining the school at a celebration event.

The next lunch club is on Thursday 15th December and it will be a Christmas Special.

Rother Vale Ward Councillors Firas Miro and Amy Brookes allocated funding from their Community Leadership Fund to Catcliffe Parish Council, which enabled them to purchase some much needed IT equipment.
Josie Huddleston, Parish Clerk, said:
"Catcliffe Parish Council used one laptop for all business. The one we had was over 10 years old, very slow, and didn’t support some versions of modern software. After a number of repairs over the years, we had to accept it was time to get a new one. The grant we received from our Ward Councillors allowed us to get a laptop that supports everything we need it to, is more secure and a lot faster. It has made a huge difference and makes it much easier to get work done, we would like to say a big thank you!"
Ward Councillors have a small pot of funding to support community groups or organisations in the Rother Vale Ward who are carrying out activities that contribute to one of their ward plan priorities.

Rotherham Together Partnership comprises a number of local organisations, from all sectors, that work together to improve the quality of life in Rotherham.
Rotherham Together Partnership are in the process of updating the Rotherham Plan 2025.
This plan sets out the major programmes partners are focusing on to deliver improvements for Rotherham's people and places.
More than 8,000 Rotherham pensioners on low incomes will receive additional cost of living support payments from Rotherham Council from this week (week commencing 26 September).
The one-off £120 payments will be made to pensioners who receive Local Council Tax support, a means tested benefit. The payments are being made from the Council’s Household Support Fund allocation – funding provided by the Government to Councils to support those most impacted by increasing gas, electric and food prices.
The payments will be made either directly into bank accounts, where the Council has bank details, or by cheque.
Councillor Chris Read, Leader of Rotherham Council, said:
“As residents across the borough start thinking about turning on the heating, we know that many people are facing real worries about how to afford their bills. By using this grant proactively to support low income pensioner households we want to ensure that we are getting as much support as we can to those who need it. Everyone entitled to the cash should also receive a letter directly through the post explaining why they are receiving it, which hopefully helps to set residents minds at ease. I’d also take the opportunity to remind anyone in a crisis situation because of their energy bills that there is more help available, with details on the Council’s website.”
If you need support, please see our website at www.rotherham.gov.uk/money-debt-advice for information on other support available with bills, money-saving and debt advice. This includes the Council's Energy Crisis Support Scheme, that provides grant payments of up to £250 for those unable to meet their energy costs.
