Rotherham Council has been named as the most improved council in the country at the Local Government Chronicle (LGC) Awards 2022.
The prestigious annual event honoured local authorities and individuals from across the UK in 22 categories, culminating in a ceremony in London on 20 July 2022.

Legacy To Live On After Womens EURO 2022
Rotherham was a sea of orange when it welcomed France and Netherlands to the EUFA Women's EURO 22 last Saturday, 23 July. Thousands of fans and local party-goers gathered for the carnival-style build-up to the last of the town's tournament matches.
Despite having to say 'goodbye' to our guests after our final match, the tournament legacy will live on. The Council is working with partners to to encourage more women and girls to be physically active and to become leaders of the future, whether that’s through football or other fitness activities.
Women's football, girls' football, coaching and refereeing are just some of the activities you might want to enjoy. Read more about female football in Rotherham and get involved.
Saturday's quarter-final was the fourth and final game at the ASSEAL New York Stadium and took total attendances to the games hosted in the town to 33,870, or around 8,500 fans per match. Thanks to all our volunteers and everyone who helped make the event so memorable.
We'd love to hear your feedback about the impact of the tournament on Rotherham. Please share your thoughts and you could win a £50 Amazon voucher!
Take the survey here before 23 September.
