Coffee and cake at ArtWorks
We are running a Coffee Morning at all of our sites on Friday 19th August!
The Coffee Morning's are an opportunity for you to see what a day at ArtWorks looks like, and to see the spaces in which we work.
Feel free to drop in at any point between 9.30am and 3.30pm to join in with the activities running in the studios, or to observe with coffee and cake in hand.
Our aim of the event is to raise money towards our sustainable catwalk project. The idea for this project has come from artist Hayden, who has been supported by other artists in producing outfits. This seeks to raise awareness of fast fashion and promote sustainable clothing practices.
We will be selling drinks, cakes and sweets during the coffee morning to help raise funds towards the project.
The Coffee Morning's will be running at the same time at all three of our sites:
- SOAR Works, 14 Knutton Road, Parson Cross, Sheffield, S5 9NU
- Thorpe Hesley Community Centre, Brook Hill, Thorpe Hesley, Rotherham, S61 2QF
- Malin Bridge Community Centre, St Polycarps CC, Wisewood Lane, Malin Bridge, Sheffield, S6 4WA

As the UK has experienced some of the hottest temperatures on record, we wanted to highlight the dangers of open water.
Strong hidden currents, debris under the water and cold temperatures can hinder your swimming abilities - posing a serious risk to life.
Do not enter or swim in open water, even if it looks calm. We are encouraging people to share the dangers with family and friends. You can find more information at the following link about staying safe.

This summer, children between the ages of 4 and 11 can visit Rotherham Libraries to meet the Gadgeteers and to get involved in a science and innovation themed Summer Reading Challenge.
Through taking part in the Challenge, with free materials from our libraries and online via the Challenge website, children will be able to join six fictional Gadgeteers. The characters – brought to life by children’s writer and illustrator Julian Beresford – use their curiosity and wonder to understand the science behind a whole range of interests, from fashion and technology to cooking and music.
Through an exciting book collection and accompanying activities, the Gadgeteers will help to spark children’s curiosity about the world around them, and encourage them to feed their imagination over the summer holiday. They will be boggled by brilliant facts, gaze at the stars, and be inspired by tales of creativity and invention. With plenty of great options across picture books, early readers and middle grade books, there’s lots to keep children busy.
- To find out more about the planned activities contact your local library. There are 15 libraries across Rotherham that you can visit.
