New Council Bungalows on Chestnut Close
Councillors Ellis, Hoddinott and Read are proud to see new bungalows within Wickersley North, including those on Hornbeam Road and those Chestnut Close that are pictured with Cllr Hoddinott & Cllr Read.
A successful partnership between Arches Housing and Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council has in this case delivered ten bungalows spread across four sites; all homes having been let through Rotherham Key Choices. These brand new 2-bedroomed semi-detached bungalows built by Keystone Yorkshire Limited feature a large entrance hallway, level access shower room, turfed rear garden with an expansive patio. In addition, in a step towards carbon reduction, each home has its own solar power system which has been designed to require no tenant management. Residents benefit from free electricity; any unused electric is fed into the national grid.
Kay Dickinson, Board Chair for Arches, said “These homes have been many years in the making, and partnership working with the Council and the whole project team has made this project a success. It is therefore fantastic to see them being completed to such a high standard of finish, having all achieved an A energy certificate rating, ready for our customers to move in."

Bramley's Friendship Bench
Bramley's Friendship Bench was funded through the Councillor Leadership Fund, to enable and encourage residents to sit together and share stories and moments together.
Councilors Sue Ellis, Emma Hoddinott and Chris Read wanted to create a space that nurtured friendships and encouraged conversation, to reduce the impact that the Covid-19 pandemic has made on all of us, particularly when it comes to being more socially isolated.
Now that it has been tried out for size by Councillor Ellis & Councillor Read, we hope that local residents enjoy the bench and the view too.
The plaque reads, "Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, ‘What! You too? I thought I was the only one. (C.S.Lewis)".
