The Poppy Cascade returns to Rotherham Markets plus work has begun on the new town centre flood defence scheme
Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council sent this bulletin at 21-10-2021 11:30 AM BST
Over 20,000 hand crafted poppies have been made by the people of Rotherham and South Yorkshire and beyond since 2018.
You can see them on display throughout Rotherham Indoor Market from Thursday 28 October to Saturday 4 December, alongside the Wall of Fallen Heroes which remembers the heroes of wars and conflicts.
Work begins on new town centre flood defence
Works to install a new multimillion-pound canal barrier at Forge Island are now underway as part of a key milestone in the Forge Island flood defence and enabling scheme.
The new canal barrier joins the flood wall that has recently been constructed on Forge Island, which together will help reduce the risk of the River Don overtopping into the canal and flooding Rotherham town centre and the Central Railway Station.
