It’s time to shine a light on Rotherham’s voluntary and community sector!
Voluntary Action Rotherham (VAR) would like all the amazing voluntary and community groups to get a chance to shine.
Shouting about the positive difference volunteers make to people’s lives and communities is something that voluntary organisations often shy away from. But now more than ever, it is important that we have a spotlight on how vital their work is.

Do you need an extra pair of hands for a one off social action project?
Voluntary Action Rotherham is appealing for groups to get in touch if you could do with some help.
VAR would like to hear from you if you need help with:
-
A re-decoration project – decorating a room or building
-
An environmental project like a litter pick or a clean up
-
A fundraising project – could you use some help with raising some money?
- An awareness raising campaign
VAR would really like to help you to get on back on your feet after the lockdown and will be working with a number of partner agencies including Rotherham Council, local colleges and private firms again this year.
If you think VAR can help – please contact Kerry McGrath at kerry.mcgrath@varotherham.org.uk
The Listening Ear South Yorkshire Bereavement Service
Launched earlier in the year, the Listening Ear South Yorkshire Bereavement Service has been extended until December to help people who have lost loved ones during the coronavirus pandemic.
Open to anyone who has lost loved ones during this difficult time, whether from the virus or otherwise, local health and care organisations across South Yorkshire wanted to make sure there were services available to support people whilst they may be physically distant from their families and friends.
Since launching in April, almost 500 appointments have been accessed by people from across Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield with overwhelmingly positive feedback.
This is a FREE service. During your appointment you will be able to talk to a trained person who will offer emotional support and wellbeing support as well as practical support.
