September 2020
Congratulations to our young Eco Warriors
We take great pleasure in informing you that the Eco Warriors from Wickersley Northfield Primary School won the Environmental Agency 'Climate Change Champions 2020'. They were one of only five schools shortlisted in the UK, and the only primary school, which is a huge achievement in itself.
Read more and watch their winning project video
Earlier this year Wickersley Ward Councillors, Cllr Ellis, Cllr Read and Cllr Hoddinott met the Eco Warriors and were very impressed with the enthusiasm and commitment this group of children displayed to help the environment for now and the future. To support the group further Ward Councillors gave the Eco Warriors funding to purchase litter pickers and bird feeders.

Re-opening of Wickersley Library
Wickersley Library is planning to re-open on Monday 21 September.
In order to keep staff and customers safe, there will be a temporary reduced service with a reduction in the hours that libraries are open and special measures in place. This will include the requirement to wear a face covering by visitors to the buildings.
Further information about the services available and what people can expect when returning to our libraries is available on our return to Rotherham Libraries video. Please share this video in your local communities.
Until libraries have re-opened, they will continue to provide the order and collect service, which gives library members the chance to order a book online and collect it from the library. Further information is available on our website.

Markfield Drive Flats Improvements
Rotherham Council's housing team are continually working towards improving where you live.
Repair works are due to start this month on Markfield Drive flats in Flanderwell. This project mainly comprises of works to the balcony access walkways and their associated works, including replacing external balcony doors and improvements to outside stairways.
Wickersley Ward Councillors have been working with housing officers and local police after residents raised concerns about the stairways being used as an area for youths to congregate and associated anti-social behaviour. The brickwork sides to the steps are to be removed and replaced with metal railings so that the areas are more open. It is hoped this will minimise groups gathering on the steps, and thereby minimise any anti-social behaviour.

Tanyard New Parking Restrictions
Wickersley Ward Councillors are continuing to support residents with anti-social behaviour issues and noise nuisance relating to the entertainment establishments on the Tanyard as set out in their Ward Priorities.
New single yellow line restrictions have been introduced on The Grove and maximum stay restrictions have been introduced on Bawtry Road.
Since 21st August there have been 19 penalty charge notices issued in the above locations. There have been five issued on The Grove for yellow line offences and 14 issued on Bawtry Road for overstaying the maximum allowed time. Enforcement officers will continue to enforce the new restrictions.
