Businesses have just ten days left to apply for financial help from two Covid-19 support schemes.
Over 4,000 Rotherham businesses and charities have received more than £46m in financial support from Rotherham Council since the start of Covid-19 lockdown measures through a number of schemes backed by the Government.
One of those schemes, the Discretionary Grant Fund, ended on 5th July and now the Council has to bring the remaining schemes to a close by midnight on 16th August 2020 as the Government funding comes to an end.
Schemes that will close on 16th August are the Small Business Grants Fund and the Retail, Hospitality & Leisure Grants Fund.
Although around 90% of eligible businesses in Rotherham have now been paid the grants they are entitled to, we believe a small number are still yet to claim and we are urging them to check their eligibility on the Council website to ensure they don’t miss out.
Subject to checks and eligibility, businesses in Rotherham have typically been receiving their grant payments within five days of making an application.
These grants are vital to the wellbeing of our economy, protecting the jobs, businesses and livelihoods of thousands of local people. We want to see every last penny kept in Rotherham - please help us by spreading the word with businesses in your community.

The list of places where it is compulsory to wear a face covering is being extended further from this Saturday, 8th August.
It will become mandatory for people to wear a face-covering at more indoor locations where they are likely to mix with others such as hairdressers, amusement arcades, bingo halls, vets, places of worship and cinemas.
This will be in addition to the exisiting rules which mean we must wear face coverings in shops, supermarkets, indoor shopping centres, indoor bus and railway stations, airports and on public transport.
Evidence suggests that wearing a face covering does not protect you but, if you are infected and don't yet know it, it may provide some protection for others you come into close contact with.
Face coverings do not replace social distancing. If you have symptoms of COVID-19 (cough, and/or high temperature, and/or loss of, or change in, your normal sense of smell or taste - anosmia), you and your household must isolate at home: wearing a face covering does not change this. You should arrange to have a test to see if you have COVID-19.

South Yorkshire devolution is now live
Rotherham's post Covid-19 economic road to recovery has received a boost after the long awaited South Yorkshire Devolution Deal passed its final hurdle in Parliament and is now live.
That means the South Yorkshire Combined Authority and South Yorkshire Mayor, Dan Jarvis have now assumed responsibility and funding for a range of issues, which cover transport, education, skills and training, housing, planning and regeneration.
It will unlock £900m of investment funding for the region over the next 30 years and also paves the way for the future devolution of the £35m adult education budget.
The final go ahead for the devolution deal was confirmed in a letter from Simon Clarke MP, Minister for Regional Growth & Local Government to Councillor Chris Read, Leader of Rotherham Council.
Frustrated parents can call on the support of Rotherham Council's Early Help Team to keep their young ones entertained and active during the school holidays.
Although with Covid-19 pandemic has limited the face-to-face services the team normally provides to Rotherham families, they've been busy presenting a wide range of activities on their Facebook pages.
In addition to regular videos featuring storytelling (Fridays), nursery rhyme (Tuesdays), busy feet (Thursdays) activities, challenges and quizes the team is putting on some special events.
Next Wednesday (12th August, 2pm), they will be going live on Facebook with special interactive visit to the farm.

The Government is investing up to £25 million in 101 places across the country, one of which could be Rotherham.
If we are successful in attracting the funding to our area, we want local people to share their ideas on how the money could be spent.

A multi-agency task force has been working to combat anti-social behaviour in the Ulley Bridge and Waverley Bridge areas.
There have been safety concerns with large numbers of people congregating and jumping off the bridges and pontoon into the water in recent weeks, during warmer weather.
Our Early Help Team engaged with over 250 young people using the site last week - which was met with a positive response from the majority of those present. However, it was concerning that a larger number of adults began taking their place who were more abrasive, jumping off the pontoon into the water and drinking later into the evening.
Council staff, including rangers and CYPS staff are continuing to work alongside the Police and Fire Service to raise awareness of water safety, engage with those involve and take enforcement action if necessary.
