Trees for Broom Valley Community School
Boston Castle ward councillors have used some of the funding made available to them in their ward budget to buy some new trees at Broom Valley Community School. Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the lockdown period, the planting of these trees has been delayed until the autumn. We will, however, be sharing photos of the trees when they are in place.
Multi-faith response to the coronavirus
Local faith groups including Rotherham Muslim community forum, Muhafiz (covering Rotherham Town Centre), the Rotherham Council of Mosques and Rotherham Minster are offering support to vulnerable people of any faith or background, including food collection and delivery, picking up medication and also making phone calls to people who are socially isolated.
Rotherham river revitalised
The final piece in the jigsaw of a 20 year vision to enable salmon to return to the River Don has been completed.
People passing by Forge Island in Rotherham will now be able to see the Masbrough Weir fish pass, thanks to a partnership between Don Catchment Rivers Trust, Canal and River Trust, the Environment Agency, Yorkshire Water and Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council.

Council's more financial aid for local small businesses and traders
Hundreds of local small businesses that have been impacted by the Coronavirus, and who were ineligible for previous government grant schemes are set to receive financial support, as part of Rotherham Council’s new £2.4 million Discretionary Business Grants Fund.
Small businesses in shared office or flexible work space, charities, bed and breakfasts, private childcare nurseries, and market traders with lease agreements are amongst those set to be eligible for the new grants, which range from £1,000 to £25,000.
