Right now, even the smallest act of kindness can go a very long way. Whether you're helping family, friends, and neighbours with shopping, dog walking, collecting prescriptions, or simply being a friendly voice at the end of the phone, you’re making a big difference. Thank you.
The Bramley Sunnyside Girls Under 10s Football Club donned pink tops and made some beauitiful artwork to thank keyworkers.
We know the Rotherham community spirit is stronger than ever right now. But while we can’t meet face-to-face then send us your pictures and videos instead. Help us to fill our social media channels and newsletters with positive vibes, colourful pictures, and stories of Rotherham folk helping each other (while adhering to social distancing guidance, of course!). If you’re already out in the community volunteering, we would love to see your pictures, maybe a short video, and get a few words about what you’ve been up to. We’d like to share as many good news stories as possible, no matter how small, to show the difference your kindness is making to people’s lives. Tag us in your pictures and videos of you helping in your community using #rotherhamtogether or email them to corporate.comms@rotherham.gov.uk

People of all ages are using this time to be creative and mentally stimulated; choirs coming together through social media, individuals sharing their artwork, people cooking together, others learning a new language and households exercising together. All these things are good for our mental health and wellbeing.
You can find more practical tips on the “Every Mind Matters” website.
There's never an excuse for domestic abuse. Reaching out for help while in self-isolation can be extremely difficult. If you or someone you know is being abused don't stay silent. There's help and support available to you. In an emergency, always ring 999. Press 55 if you are unable to speak to the operator.
Details of local and national support services can be found on our website.
Coronavirus has had a devastating impact on all aspects of life, including the way people remember their loved ones and grieve their loss. We know how devastating this will be for people. We’ve worked in partnership with other local authorities in South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw to launch a new support service for people who have lost loved ones during the coronavirus pandemic. The service is a free to call number and will allow people to talk to a trained therapist who will be able to offer emotional health and wellbeing support when they need it the most. Anyone wishing to use the service should call 0800 048 5224 (freephone) or provide details via the Listening Ear website. If you know somebody from our borough that has lost someone, please pass this information on.
If you've registered as a volunteer but your circumstances have changed, for example, you are now in self-isolation, please do let us know and we can update our records. Simply email us to let us know at corporate.comms@rotherham.gov.uk
