New look for planned eye surgery
A new hub for planned eye surgery at Edgware Community Hospital will see an additional 3,000 procedures carried out every year across the sector, reducing waiting times for some patients who need sight-saving operations.
The hub, run by the Royal Free London, primarily provides treatment for adults who have common, low complexity conditions such as cataracts. It brings together some eye procedures that were carried out by our clinicians at Chase Farm Hospital, the Royal Free Hospital, and Whittington Health NHS Trust.

All staff NHSmail accounts will have multi-factor authentication (MFA) enabled by the access management team between Thursday 29 February and Monday 11 March.
This will not affect staff who have already set up MFA on their account. Once MFA is enabled, staff will be prompted to set up an additional level of authentication beyond entering a password when signing into their NHS email account.

Improving patient safety across our hospitals
To improve the way we respond to patient safety incidents, the trust has introduced NHS England’s new Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) today, Monday 4 March.
PSIRF sets a new direction for how NHS organisations respond to patient safety incidents, focusing on understanding how incidents happen and allowing for more effective learning, and ultimately safer care for patients.
Staff thanked at chief executives' briefing
RFL chief executive Peter Landstrom thanked staff for their amazing efforts during the recent junior doctors’ strike, at last week’s chief executives’ briefing.
Peter said: “I am really proud of how everyone at the Royal Free London responds to each period of industrial action, and I am very grateful to you all for rising to the challenge time and time again to keep our patients safe and our organisation running.”

Ward staff, junior doctors, housekeepers and porters are among a whole range of clinical, operational and administrative teams who will be able to use the new module in our electronic patient record, called Capacity Management (CapMan).
Look at the Freenet pages which provide staff with more information, support available for teams, as well as upcoming training sessions to familiarise staff with the new system.
