Dargavel Primary parent and carer update
Dear parents and carers
I am writing to provide you with an update on the proposed internal improvements to Dargavel Primary School, and our community survey on how the learning space in the new Dargavel Primary School could be used.
Internal improvements
We have been closely monitoring the areas of Dargavel Primary School that had been identified for improvement following parent feedback on the school acoustics and we are continuing to work with designers to progress a solution.
It is currently estimated the required works will require a number of weeks to complete, and on this basis we are now planning for the works to take place during the summer break next year with completion in time for the new school term.
Because of the intrusive nature of the works, this timescale is intended to minimise any potential on-site disruption to pupils. We have updated the Parent Council.
The Head Teacher and school leadership team will continue to monitor the quality of the learning environment and the needs of your children. We apologise for the delay and will keep you updated.
New primary school planning – community survey
We are continuing to move forward with the planning for the new Dargavel primary school. As part of that we have employed specialists – called Space Zero – to help us plan how the new school will be used, both during and outwith the school day.
We are keen to make sure the views of current parents and the wider Dargavel community are considered as part of that. To help us do that, Space Zero have created a short survey.
It covers how you currently use existing facilities in the area, your thoughts on the current primary school, and how the community might use facilities at the new school in the evenings and at weekends.
The survey should take around five minutes to complete and you can fill it out via the link below. We appreciate you taking the time to give us your feedback.
