Our ambitious programme to transform the borough into a greener, more sustainable environment has achieved remarkable success, with the planting of a staggering 65,000 new trees over the past decade.
From 1 April 2014 to 31 March 2024, Redbridge Council planted 65,690 trees, including oak, maple, and birch species.
We are highlighting our community heroes in Redbridge.
Meet Jan from Clayhall, who regularly goes litter picking in Claybury Park.
Her efforts to help keep the park clean have inspired others and made her a well known face in the local community.
“It saddened me seeing the rubbish people would leave behind in the park, so I decided to do something about it to help keep the park clean.
"I’m in Claybury Park a lot, and 99 per cent of park users I see treat the park with respect and care, but the few who do leave the park messy are spoiling it for everyone.
"It’s important to work together as a community to look after our parks. My mantra is if you want the right to use the park, you also have to take responsibility for looking after it.”
A recent report undertaken by independent organisation, Impower, found that Redbridge Council is not only number one in London, but also second in the country for delivering value for money for its residents.
The independent consultancy Impower crunched data on a range of metrics, assessing councils' performances and examining their relative budgets and spending on services.
Impower recognised that times are tough financially for councils across the country, but praised those who were delivering against the odds, and giving excellent services to their communities across the full suite of council services, including children's services, adult social care, waste collections, leisure and cultural services, and supporting those most in need through statutory services such as housing.

As part of our digital infrastructure programme, Redbridge housing tenants will receive a significant upgrade with the introduction of full-fibre broadband, which will offer faster speeds, more reliable connectivity, and a host of new possibilities for digital interaction.
Working in partnership with our digital provider, Openreach, over 700 full-fibre upgrades have already been delivered to households across the borough, with a further 400 planned in the coming weeks.
The new installation will provide residents with superior service and more competitive prices. Social tariffs will be available for those on low income, making connectivity affordable for all. This means faster internet speeds, better reliability, and a range of digital services at your fingertips.
