Gas, electrical and fire safety is a key priority for us at London Borough of Redbridge. We know how important it is that you can sleep safe in the knowledge that your gas boiler (if you have one), fire safety equipment and electrical systems have been certified as safe by a professional. If you’re a tenant living in a home managed by us, we offer these services and safety checks for free.
Gas safety checks
The gas safety check is a compulsory annual check carried out by a certified professional to help detect any blockages or harmful gas leaks.
Electrical safety checks
Electrical safety checks take place every five years and helps to ensure all electrical fittings are safe to use. Once the check is complete we will produce a detailed inspection report and rectify any identified faults.
Fire safety checks
In the wake of the Grenfell disaster, regulations on fire safety have been reviewed and extended. These extra responsibilities mean that we may need to request access to your home to complete the necessary inspections and fire safety checks.
Your safety is our priority, if we've already contacted you to carry out the above checks, please get in contact with us to book an appointment on 0208 518 2400

-
Mulalley, one of our Affordable Homes contractors, donated Christmas toys to children at our hostels.
-
Mears, our repairs contractor, donated 25 winter warmer packs to vulnerable residents. The packs included a thermos flask, gloves, a woolly hat and warm winter socks.

Redbridge has introduced tougher sanctions against grime crime offenders in the borough. Community support for tougher action against fly-tippers has triggered steeper penalties for those caught making a mess in Redbridge.
Anyone caught dumping their rubbish in the borough now faces a £1000 on the spot fine for fly-tipping. The council is introducing the hard-hitting fine following a change to legislation last year, and in response to feedback from local people.
A series of new fines came into effect across the borough from Thursday 1 February and is aimed at deterring people from harming public spaces and ensuring that those who continue to pollute our streets with fly-tips or litter face tougher consequences.
