Local communities are invited to turn their street into a hive of fun and activity by applying to become a Redbridge Play Street.
Redbridge Play Streets enables communities to close off their road to traffic for a few hours a month so that neighbours, children, and families can socialise and play together safely on the street.
Backed by Redbridge Council, the scheme empowers local people to create thriving, close-knit communities on their streets and encourage more outdoor play opportunities for children.
Applications are now open for the spring round of Play Streets so local people can create car-free, fun community spaces on their street.
Apply by Thursday, 22 February, to create a car-free, fun community space on your street.

We want to hear your views on how we can all improve our health and wellbeing in Redbridge.
This online consultation focuses on three ambitions:

- Living & feeling well - building resilience for living & wellbeing
- Caring well - prevention & care of long-term conditions
This is your opportunity to help improve health and wellbeing in Redbridge.
We often take things for granted, such as bringing our children to the park or a local playground.
Many children in Redbridge, however, have never experienced these fun and free activities.
If you would like to create happy memories for our most vulnerable children and are considering fostering, contact us at 020 8708 6068 or visit our website.
Ford RideLondon-Essex returns in 100 days' time, and the organisers of the world's greatest festival of cycling have been working with communities across the route to improve the event for 2024.
This year's event, which includes challenge rides of 100, 60 and 30 miles, takes place on Sunday, 26 May, on largely the same route as last year. However, a minor change has been made to a section of the route on the border of Essex and London.
This change is necessary because of a closed road bridge on Broadmead Road, Woodford, and that means the route will now pass through Chigwell and Buckhurst Hill.
