Join our campaign for vital funding to repair and reopen Broadmead Road Bridge.
A major section of Broadmead Road in Woodford was closed to traffic in July 2023 due to significant structural defects reported following an inspection of the bridge. The road was immediately closed to prevent potential loss of life or serious injury.
Essential repairs to the bridge are expected to cost at least £25million, but potentially far more. The Leader of Redbridge Council, Cllr Jas Athwal, has written to the Secretary of State for Transport, requesting that urgent funding be made available to help foot the cost of the bridge repair project.

Redbridge Council, in partnership with the Metropolitan Police, is delivering a ground-breaking new Police Hub in Woodford, bringing police back into local communities.
The new Woodford Police Hub will be home to at least 20 police officers working in partnership with council staff and Redbridge Housing Officers to prevent antisocial behaviour and support local people across the west of Redbridge.
Police Safer Neighbourhood Teams from Wanstead Park, Wanstead Village, South Woodford, Churchfields, Bridge, and Monkhams will call the new Police Hub home, bringing them closer to their neighbourhoods and cutting down on travel time.
There are still plenty of spaces for eligible children to book a space on our Christmas Holiday, Activity and Food (HAF) Programme. HAF will be running from Thursday 21 December to Wednesday 3 January across Redbridge. All sessions offer sports, arts and crafts, free hot food and much more! Local men from Redbridge are speaking out against misogyny in a new initiative designed to spark conversations about women's and girls' safety across the borough.
Real Men Talking recently launched – with local community activist Taiwo Ademola offering an overview of what misogyny means for men – and why it's men who need to listen up and change their behaviour – not women.
The launch is timed to coincide with 16 days of activism – a UN-backed global initiative that shines a spotlight on efforts to tackle sexist harassment and abuse faced by women and girls across the world.
As the days get colder, it is important to think about ways you can keep well over the winter months. Cold weather can make some health problems worse and even lead to serious complications. It also means diseases spread more easily as we spend more time indoors.
The good news is there are lots of ways you can keep well over winter, and lots of support out there to help you do this.
