It’s time to vote for your most loved Redbridge Green Flag Award-winning park.
Throughout September, you can put Redbridge Parks on the UK map by voting for your favourites in the People’s Choice Award!
We have nine Green Flag Award-winning parks in the running and need to poll around 2,000 votes to make it into the Top 10 in the UK!
We would dearly love to see Hainault Forest in the top 10. Do you love it there? If so, please do vote for it.
Voting takes 30 seconds of your time but can help give our parks the recognition they deserve.

Following updated guidance from the Department for Education (DfE), all schools in Redbridge have done or are doing visual inspections of their buildings. Some schools were built outside the timeframe when Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated C Concrete (RAAC) was used and, therefore, have no risk.
Following the visual inspections at schools, the council has commissioned building surveys to take place at schools, some of which started this week.
Notification of RAAC will be provided to the Department for Education if confirmed by the building survey.
The Council already supports over 17,000 households with their Council Tax liability through its Council Tax Reduction scheme.
We want your views on the four options we are considering for our Council Tax Reduction Scheme for 2024/2025.
Please complete our online survey and share your thoughts on these proposals. Your responses are completely anonymous. The survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete.
As it gets colder outside, we spend more time indoors, which unfortunately means the flu and COVID-19 can spread more easily.
Vaccines are our best protection against flu and COVID-19. Over the last few years, they have kept tens of thousands of people out of hospital and helped to save countless lives.
Please get vaccinated and share with local people. The NHS are offering both flu and COVID-19 vaccines to those at greater risk of serious illness, this will include everyone:
- aged 65 and over
- pregnant women
- care home residents
- people aged six months old or above with certain health conditions
- frontline health and care staff
- unpaid carers and household contacts of those at higher risk
COVID-19 appointments can be made by downloading the NHS App or visiting the NHS website. If you or anyone you know can’t get online, call 119, and you can make a booking.
Flu appointments will be available nationally from early October at NHS seasonal vaccinations page.
High blood pressure, which rarely has noticeable symptoms, increases your risk of heart attack or stroke if left untreated, so knowing your numbers could save your life.
The only way to determine if your blood pressure is high is to have your blood pressure tested.
Get your blood pressure tested at our mobile clinic on Tuesday 3 October between 10am and1pm at Hainault Forest Community Association, IG7 4DF.
Junior doctors and consultants in England are set to strike from Monday 2 October, to Wednesday 4 October.
The three days in October will see “Christmas Day” staffing levels from both groups. You will be contacted if you have an appointment that needs to be rescheduled.
If you need urgent help, contact your GP or ring 111 for advice. In an emergency, dial 999.
Parents and carers can now apply online for places at Redbridge schools for the 2024/25 academic year.
For children starting school for the first time, transferring from infant to junior or from primary to secondary, applications should be made via our admissions team.
For primary school admissions, applications are open for children born between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020. The deadline for primary school applications or to transfer from infants to juniors is Monday 15 January 2024.
For secondary school admissions, applications are open for children born between 1 September 2012 and 31 August 2013. The deadline for secondary applications is Tuesday 31 October 2023.
We hate fly-tippers as much as you, so let’s work together to catch the culprits. Head to our latest edition of Redbridge Wall of Shame and let us know if you recognise any of the offenders caught on camera making a mess in our borough.
Two homeowners who repeatedly failed to clear their rubbish-filled front garden after using it as a dumping ground were successfully prosecuted by Redbridge Council for their grime crimes.
The prosecution follows complaints from local people about the state of the front garden, littered with discarded items, including bed bases, mattresses, cabinets, clothing, and other household waste.
Have your say on how we develop the borough’s electric vehicle charging infrastructure and where we place EV charge points.
Head to our Electric Vehicle Charging Strategy consultation to leave your feedback.
Cycle to School Week takes place from Monday 25 to Friday 29 September, and we’re encouraging families across the borough to use pedal power to get to school as part of the national campaign.
This year, the national campaign is asking families to make one of four cycling pledges for Cycle to School Week on Bikeability’s website.
The four pledges to choose from are:
- Swap one car journey for cycling
- Cycle to school everyday
- Discover somewhere new on your cycle
- Go on a cycle ride with family
Those pledging on the website also get entered into the Bikability prize draw to win a brand new Frog children’s bike.
