We have been officially recognised once again for having nine of the best parks in the UK. In a record-breaking year, over 2,216 parks across the country have been awarded the prestigious Green Flag Award for 2023.
The news that Redbridge Parks have achieved the accreditation - the international quality mark for parks and green spaces - is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Vision RCL parks team that cares for the green spaces on behalf of Redbridge Council so that everyone can enjoy them.
The Affordable Homes Programme (AHP) is part of the Council’s commitment to providing local people with high-quality, affordable council homes. The aim is to build 600 new homes by 2025 on existing council-owned sites across the borough.
Work is currently in full swing at the Little Gearies site which, upon completion, will provide 103 homes for local families.
Across the borough, building work was recently completed on the Norman Road Development in Ilford, with six new properties comprising three flats and three maisonettes.
A major section of Broadmead Road in Woodford will remain closed to buses, cyclists, motorists and pedestrians until further notice.
On Thursday, 13 July, Redbridge Council undertook a structural survey of Broadmead Road. The survey outcome recommended immediate part closure of the road pending further assessment.
Following guidance from the structural engineering team, Broadmead Road was closed between Charteris Road and St Barnabas Road.
A further survey will need to take place; it will require specific TfL permission due to the proximity to the central line track and will need to take place overnight during a small working window.
TfL is now completing availability checks to advise of the earliest available date this additional survey can take place.
The Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Sir Mark Rowley, is visiting Redbridge Town Hall on Monday, 31 July, to discuss a New Met For London. This is a chance for local people to hear first-hand how the Met will transform how they police London and discuss their biggest step yet to renew policing by consent.
We're hosting our annual Disability Awareness Festival in Wanstead on Wednesday, 9 August, at Christchurch Green between 12pm and 7pm.
The festival is organised by Redbridge Council’s Education and Inclusion service and its partners at Vision, Uniting Friends, Redbridge Forum, and One Place East.
The festival has grown over the years from a small event for people with learning disabilities to a high-profile festival in the heart of the community, attended by thousands of people and accessible to everyone, regardless of their ability.
Our main stage boasts talented singers, DJs, and dancers. There will also be a live performance from our Robbie Williams tribute act, which promises to be a real showstopper!
