Have Your Say on Violence in Redbridge

Following a public consultation in July 2019, the Government announced a new Serious Violence Duty which will ensure relevant public services work together to share data and knowledge, allowing them to target interventions to prevent and reduce serious violence.

As part of this duty Redbridge Council are undertaking a public consultation to gather residents' and businesses' views and perceptions of serious violence in the borough.

Metropolitan Police Senior Leadership to visit Redbridge

All members of the community are invited to attend Redbridge Town Hall on Monday 31^st July as senior leadership from the Metropolitan Police visit to discuss a New Met For London. This will be your chance to hear first-hand how the police are going to transform policing in London and discuss their biggest step yet towards renewing policing by consent.

Guests are asked to arrive from 4pm to join an open discussion, followed by the opportunity to ask questions with a senior leader at 6.30pm. The event will conclude at 8pm.

PSPO Consultation

As part of our measures to tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB), we already have a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) that prohibits ASB such as street drinking and aggressive begging, covering the following wards: Clementswood, Loxford, Ilford Town, and Valentines.

The council is in the process of renewing the PSPO and adding 2 additional wards (Barkingside and Cranbrook). This will enable the council to introduce a range of measures to address antisocial behaviour issues and help improve public spaces. The order will last for a period of three years unless revoked.

We want to hear from residents on the measures proposed as part of the PSPO. Please take a few minutes to complete this consultation and share your views.

Anti-Social Behaviour Success Story: Block Closure

Fullwell Neighbourhood Team were successful in obtaining a closure order for the communal areas at Owen Walters House, Ilford.

Local residents reported to the police and council that they were living in fear day and night, with reports of:

Residents being threatened with a knives by a group of youths when they were confronted about loitering and making noise within the block.
Missing persons being found in the block
Suspicion of child sexual exploitation
Drug taking
Graffiti
Youths gathering sometimes with dogs, leaving dog fouling behind
Litter/drug paraphernalia left behind

Fulwell SNT are conducting regular patrols to enforce the Closure Order. The order lasts from 1600 on 17^th July 2023 until 1600 17^th October 2023. It is the first block closure of its kind within the London Borough of Redbridge.
