Yesterday we held a special Citizenship Ceremony, in honour of the King's coronation, at Valentines Mansion and Gardens.
A citizenship ceremony is the last part of a prospective citizens journey to becoming a British Citizen. We welcomed 24 citizens into our local community and each received a naturalisation certificate and a gift including a presentation folder, notebook, wildflower seed card, tote bag, pen and an order of service booklet.
The ceremony was lead by our deputy Superintendent Registrar Nicky Flynn who invited forward the Deputy Mayor Cllr Namreen Chaudhry and the Representative Deputy Lieutenant of Redbridge Thomas Chan, to say a few words of welcome and then to present the certificates. Nneoma said "It was absolutely amazing having the dignitaries come out and celebrate with us as well as our guests, our friends and family too."
The Leader of Redbridge Council, Cllr Jas Athwal, chose the winners of the prize draw and also said a few words of welcome. Artur, winner of an afternoon tea for two said "I am very happy and honoured to be here today and to attend this beautiful ceremony and to become a British Citizen."
After the ceremony the new citizens indulged in high tea with their friends and family, and enjoyed entertainment from violinist Jessica Bolly.
The coronation is only days away and we’re decorating Redbridge.
