You may be worried about damp and mould in your home and how it can affect you.
There are three main causes of damp within properties:
- Penetrating damp
- Rising damp
- Condensation, leading to mould growth.
Condensation is by far the most common cause of damp and mould within properties, particularly during the winter months.

We’re calling on the community to help us identify a furniture dumping duo and others caught on camera ditching their rubbish in the borough.
CCTV footage released for the November edition of Redbridge Wall of Shame shows eight clips of fly-tippers selfishly discarding their rubbish on the street - creating an eyesore in the local community with their mess.
In the footage, the law-breakers, who face a £400 fixed penalty notice if caught, can be seen leaving broken bits of furniture on the street and leaving bags of rubbish by bins, which is also fly-tipping.
We recently launched the Women’s Safety Mission Statement at Full Council.
The Council, Police and partners share a mission to work with local people, businesses, workplaces and institutions to ensure public spaces feel safer for women and girls in Redbridge.
Over the last two years, Redbridge Council has listened to the views of women and girls in a variety of ways to ensure a range of voices were heard.
Tackling fly-tips, cracking down on illegal street activity, and ensuring businesses comply with the law were all part of two recent Redbridge Action Days focused on community safety.
Throughout the year, the multi-agency action days take place in various locations around the borough to crack down on lawbreakers and engage with local communities to share safety advice and information.
Our Neighbourhoods Team will be holding a free engagement and education event on waste disposal to help local people understand what fly-tipping is and how to avoid breaking the law regarding getting rid of rubbish.
The team of Enforcement Officers, and Engagement and Education Officers will be on hand between 4pm and 6pm, on Wednesday 30 November, in Ley Street in Ilford, to offer the community advice, tips, and information on how to dispose of waste responsibly and legally.
Local people and businesses are encouraged to come to the event to find out about waste disposal services available to them, get tips on how to reduce waste, and share any local concerns they have.
Redbridge residents are invited to get involved in council decision-making by joining the Community Voice citizen’s panel.
Community Voice allows local people to get directly involved and have their say in council decision-making. By taking part, residents can have their say on important issues affecting their neighbourhood and make a real difference in their area.
Applicants must be able to attend sessions for a minimum of two hours a month over 12 months and to thank them for their time and to reflect the value of their input; every member will receive £100-worth of vouchers over the year.
The final deadline for applications is Monday 19 December 2022.
