Last week we released a short film narrated by the Leader of Redbridge Council, Cllr Jas Athwal, detailing the steps we have taken to ensure we are listening to residents' concerns on women’s safety.
As making Redbridge a safer place is the number one priority for us, the video highlights measures we have taken to crack down on crime and antisocial behaviour, including:
- Launching two Enforcement Hubs for dual use by police and council enforcement teams
- Launching a Mobile Enforcement Hub and a CCTV Challenger Vehicle to be deployed around the borough as needed
- Increasing the borough's 24-hour CCTV coverage following an investment of £1.5m
- Launching women's safety walks with council officers and police to identify places in the Borough where women feel unsafe and take action

Women working and living in Redbridge are invited by the police to walk & talk. This is an opportunity to share your thoughts on safety and how to bring about positive change. Those who take part in a walk & talk can share their views and experiences with officers as they walk through any areas they may feel vulnerable in.
The next one takes place Tuesday 6 Sep 2022 – Seven Kings Park 12:30-1:30pm. Meeting point is at Redbridge Town Hall in Ilford.

Redbridge is now the first local authority in London with an accredited local-authority led perpetrator programme. With funding from the Home Office via The Mayor's Office for Policing And Crime, the Spotlight programme was set up by the council’s community social work team within children and families.
