To give businesses another opportunity to apply for the Discretionary Business Grant before the final closing date of the scheme, the application process is now open and will run until 23:59 on Monday 28 August 2020 or after 200 applications are received, whichever is sooner.
Eligible businesses can claim the grant by applying online and supplying relevant evidence. It is important that you review the eligibility criteria and ensure you meet the requirements before you submit your application.
Businesses must have property-based costs and demonstrate a significant fall in income due to COVID-19. The following businesses can apply:
- Businesses and social enterprise located in shared workspaces who have fewer than 50 employees, where the freeholder or lessor has not already received a small business or retail hospitality or leisure grant.
-
Charities in properties which are in receipt of charity mandatory relief from business rates that would have otherwise been entitled to small business rate relief.
-
Events and catering businesses excluding those that have already received a Small Business Grant Fund (SBGF) or Retail Hospitality and Leisure Grant Fund (RHLGF) payment.
-
Retail, hospitality and leisure sector businesses with a rateable value between £51,000 and £80,000 may now qualify for a grant, excluding national chains and those that already received a SBGF or RHLGF payment of £10,000 or £25,000 for another property.
- Businesses that are still restricted in their trading activities, excluding those that have already received a SBGF or RHLGF payment.
-
Nurseries that have qualified for the Nursery Discount in Business Rates, but limited to one grant per company.
-
Small and micro businesses with income loss in excess of 50% of turnover and having high property costs exceeding 15% of turnover.
We are making every effort to ensure that eligible businesses have an opportunity to apply. For more information about the eligibility criteria and to access the online application, visit our website.
