Test, Track and Trace system now live

The new NHS Test and Trace service is now live. As of Thursday 28 May, anyone who tests positive for coronavirus will be contacted by the service. They will ask for information about:

your household members
people you’ve been in direct contact with
people you’ve been two metres apart from for more than 15 minutes

The service will help identify, contain, and control coronavirus, reduce the spread of the virus, and save lives.

Still keep your distance when you're out and about

New guidance says that you're now allowed to meet six people from outside your household – but you must still stay two metres apart from them.

It is still recommended that you regularly wash your hands. Sing "Happy Birthday" twice (around 20 seconds) with soap to keep you and others safe.

And watch out for our new stickers on pavements to help residents keep their distance when walking about.

Schools statement

The Leader of Redbridge Council, Councillor Jas Athwal, has responded to the Prime Minister’s plans to open up schools to more children from Monday, 1 June.

Schools are working hard to make sure they are safe for staff and students and we are supporting them.

Funding available for local not-for-profit groups

We’ve launched a new scheme to give local groups up to £1000 if they’re helping people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

New service for victims of domestic abuse

It is a sad fact that domestic abuse has spiked across the UK since lockdown.

Reach Out, our new domestic abuse service, offers advice and support to victims and can help perpetrators change their behaviour.

The dedicated team is available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm on 0800 1456410. If it's an emergency, call 999.
