All managers' update

Welcome to the weekly Friday update for managers, with information you and your teams need to know. This edition includes:

National Inclusion Week

National Inclusion Week (NIW) is a week of focus for workforces worldwide on what inclusivity means to them. This year's theme is 'Time to Act: #ThePowerOfNow' to focus on making inclusivity an everyday reality. The aim of the week is to drive change and encourage action to continue to provide equal access to opportunities and resources for people who might otherwise be excluded or marginalised.

It is important staff update personal details in Fusion to ensure we are supporting them in the best possible way. We are an inclusive employer and want to make sure that everyone who works here feels included and has the same access to opportunities. The diverse work culture we have helps us achieve our corporate plan for 2022/23 and the City Vision for 2040.

Inclusivity goes beyond our workforce

Every action counts, no matter how little this may be. There are many ways in which you can make your services more inclusive.

Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion team will be speaking more about inclusivity and all things EDI in our all managers live session on Tuesday 27 September. If you missed the link, you can attend the event here.

Mandatory eLearning help and guidance

The learning and development team are there to support you and your colleagues with your training needs whilst they work on a new Learning Management System (LMS) now the Portsmouth Learning Gateway (PLG) is no longer available. During this time, staff should only complete training which is essential as part of their roles and to make things easier, mandatory courses are now available directly from the intranet rather than having to request them through the learning and development team.

Our current eLearning page lists mandatory courses which launch directly into the modules when copied into a new internet window tab. Instruction to help staff do this is available in the mandatory eLearning section of the intranet page.

Please remind staff that any mandatory training that they complete is not automatically recorded so they will need to separately submit evidence of training results in a way they would not have had to do previously. If staff do not provide this evidence, it will not be stored by the learning and development team on their training history. Please support your staff during this time.

All managers live events

Thank you to everyone who attended our All Managers' Live session yesterday. If you missed it, you can find a recording available on our All Managers' Live events page. Next week, on Tuesday 27 September, Chief Executive, David Williams, will be joined by Mike Sellers, Director of Portsmouth International Port, and James Gagliardini and Karolina Szczepaniak from the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion team.

Essential IT maintenance taking place this Sunday, 25 September

All Windows servers are being updated between 5am and 3pm on Sunday. Staff should not attempt to use any computer systems during this time.

Social Care systems, SystmOne, ContrOCC and MOSAIC will be unavailable between 5am and 8am. HCC Out of Hours Service (The Parkway) will not be affected by the PCC essential maintenance weekend work.
